Real-talk question for you: As a kid, what was your relationship like with your dad?
Was it strong, complicated, or nonexistent? We all have a different experience with our fathers, but I’m sure we can all agree—a father (or father figure) can change the entire direction of a young man’s life.
📖 “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” — James 1:27
The fatherless are high on God’s priority list. But here’s the question: How do we help them?
✅ By being present fathers.
✅ By stepping in as mentors, teachers, family, and coaches.
✅ By showing kids what righteous masculinity looks like so they better understand their Heavenly Father.

19 million kids in America live without a father figure. That’s 1 in 4 children!!
Fatherlessness is linked to:
Lower grades
More crime
Higher depression
Greater addiction
Broken families

When dads (or strong male mentors) show up:
Children are 43% more likely to earn A’s in school
80% less likely to go to jail
75% less likely to face teen pregnancy
10x more likely to have confidence, self-control, and faith
⚔️ Our Sacred Duty
Brothers, we are in a war zone for the souls of the next generation. The stats don’t lie—strong, righteous men change the world one child at a time.
📖 “Let each company bear an equal proportion…in taking the poor, the widows, the fatherless, and the families of those who have gone into the army, that the cries of the widow and the fatherless come not up into the ears of the Lord against this people.” — D&C 136:8
Does having children and being an active father count? 100%! You are actively reducing fatherlessness.
Does being an intentional uncle, teacher, coach, or mentor count? Absolutely. You are giving these children a father figure, a masculine mentor, and a glimpse of their Heavenly Father.
👶 Justin and I are both welcoming baby boys soon. Raising boys isn’t easy (lol), but it’s one of the greatest honors in history. Every time a faithful family raises up a son or daughter of God, that’s one less child swallowed up by the statistics.
🙌 Hallelujah for righteous fathers and mentors! We’re so grateful for men like you, who are living and breathing examples of righteous masculinity. We thank God for the women who, with heroic strength and patience beyond themselves, manage households of men and women in training, creating a safe haven from the storms that beat upon their shelter.
