🔥 F5 Fast Files: Worthy & Willing
God has callings for every man — in life and in faith.
To be used by Him, we only need to be two things: worthy and willing.
You don’t have to campaign for callings or chase prestige, just be ready when you're called.
Question:
What's your current calling? (In life or in church or both).
If a new calling was brewing, would you be ready?
“God does not begin by asking us about our ability,
but only about our availability.
And if we prove our dependability,
He will increase our capability.”
— Neal A. Maxwell
The Conversation
Last week a close friend was called as a Bishop in his local congregation —
a calling from God he didn’t seek, request, or expect.
As people congratulated him, I offered the familiar line: “Well deserved.” To which he humbly replied, “Well, I don’t know about that… but I’m willing.” That simple response lit something inside me. Because worthy and willing are the real prerequisites for any calling — in church, business, family, or life.
Deserving vs. Worthy ⚖️
“Well deserved” implies we’ve earned something —
that the honor or opportunity is the result of personal achievement.
And while hard work matters, callings are not earned.
They’re entrusted.
“Worthy” focuses not on status but on readiness of heart.
It’s less about accomplishment, more about alignment.
When we strive to live worthily, we prepare ourselves to receive
whatever God is ready to give — not because we deserve it,
but because we’re in a place to handle it.
Willing — The Second Half
“God’s message is that worthiness is not flawlessness.
Worthiness is being honest and trying.”
— Brad R. Wilcox
Willingness is what completes the tool.
You don’t need to be the newest, cleanest, or sharpest tool in the shed —
just the one willing to be picked up. 🪓
Life Callings 🔔
Not every calling comes through a church leader.
Many come through personal revelation — a pull on your heart that says, “This is what you’re meant to do right now.”
Our friend Justin is a great example. After years of working in the soccer community, he opened a new indoor facility in Southern Utah — creating a place for athletes to keep playing and keep improving. ⚽
That’s a life calling. He followed divine direction to create something that blesses others — one of the purest forms of service.
Finding Your Calling
For every man in this Brotherhood —
whether you’re building a business, leading a ward, raising kids,
or rebuilding yourself — God has many callings waiting for you.
Some are given through priesthood authority.
Some are discovered through personal revelation.
But both come the same way:
May we have eyes to see,
ears to hear,
and feet ready to move. 👣
This Week’s Challenge
Ask yourself:
“Am I living in a way that makes me both worthy and willing?”
Then listen for what God is calling you to do next — and when it comes, step forward.
You don’t have to be the best.
You just have to be available. 💪
